Given that Penguin has now been released, could we see further gains as it works its way through all the algorithms? Or would we already have seen all the recovery that we get from it by now?
JOHN MEULLER (Webmaster Analyst from Google):
As far as I know, its fully rolled out so this is not something where you would continue to see subtle changes based on this specific update. But since its more real time algorithm, it’s something that will respond a little bit faster to changes that you make on your website with regards to web spam, with regards to, maybe, problematic links that are on your site. So if you continue cleaning things up or as your website continues to grow and gets more references from other people, hen that’s something that will have a positive effect there, as well. So it’s not the case that your website is now ranking at this position and getting this much traffic and will just stay there, you will see the normal organic changes anyway. I call this more like our normal organic changes on the web as things get picked up and passed on and forwarded.
