I can see we still have a REL Publisher tag when I use view source. Does it cause any harm? would you recommend leaving it or removing it

I can see we still have a REL Publisher tag when I use view source. Does it cause any harm? would you recommend leaving it or removing it

It definitely doesn’t cause any harm.I don’t actually know what we do with the REL Publisher tag at the moment.I believe that was actually only for the Google+ side to link your official Google+ page to your website.So not something that we would use in search anyway.Tags like this or REL Author tags if you have those on your website,they don’t cause any problems you can definitely leave them there.There’s no rush to remove these things if they’re no longer used.If we run across tags that we don’t use, we just ignore them.They don’t cause any problems.
