I submitted a site map with errors some time ago, but despite correcting it, Google still keeps visiting the error URLs. What would you recommend?
JOHN MEULLER (Webmaster Analyst from Google):
This is something where you essentially don’t really need to do anything. If these URLs return 404, that’s perfectly fine. When we discover URLs and we see them linked within your website, we see them linked from somewhere else, we see them in your site map file, then we’ll try to crawl those URLs. And we might retry them regularly to see if there’s anything that we’re missing that we could be showing for your site as well. So we’ll retry those from time to time, but that’s not something that you need to block or that needs to worry you.
