Is adding a special calculator to website can have any SEO benefit from it? Will Google recognize this as something adding value?
JOHN MEULLER (Webmaster Analyst from Google):
So this is something where on the one hand, Google will probably recognize that this is something unique that is ascribed on your page that we can rank your page for. So if someone is specifically searching for a generator calculator or whatever variation that you provide there, then that’s something that would be something that we could show in the Search results. However, that’s something of a different query of ranking for general rent a generator, for example, queries. So for general queries, that’s something that would probably collect itself over time in the sense that users would recognize that there is added value on this site. They would maybe recommend the link to your calculator, your other added value that you have there. And over time, we would use that to better understand, OK, for this type of query, actually this site is pretty good as well. So on the one hand, adding a tool like that provides more direct traffic to that tool for people looking explicitly for that tool, assuming there are people who are doing that. On the other hand, over time, this is something that will build value for the rest of your site as well.
