Is it better to have only small quantity of the best pages in Google index that are receiving traffic? Will this provide a slight increase for my Panda score?
JOHN MEULLER (Webmaster Analyst from Google):
So in general, I would kind of maybe bracket out the Panda score part, but, in general, this is something where you have to think about your website, about your users.I wouldn’t artificially remove content just because you think it’s not the best content on your website. But maybe it makes sense to improve some of the content especially if you know that it’s really low quality content. So it’s not something where I’d would say you should take a 1,000 page website and reduce it to 10 pages and then you will rank better because if you reduce it to 10 pages, you’ll have a lot less content. We might think those 10 pages are really good and they are really relevant, but if you don’t have that content on those pages, then we don’t know what to do with them.So instead of just blindly deleting content, think about where this content make sense. Is this good content overall? Is this something that, maybe, was just created as filler over the years? And kind respond to that and not worry so much about a Panda score, about a site wide quality score, but think about how does this content make sense for users going to my website.
